Found Stationery

I often use "found stationery" to write my letters. Letter #21 is one of those. I just finished it, using magazine pages as my stationery du jour. The letter begins on the reverse side of the page shown above. The other side is a mostly white page and those are the ones I use most often. Sometimes I do the opposite and write on dark pages with a white pen.

Find yourself some stationery today and if you don't have anyone else to write to, you could WRITE TO ME! Address at top in the righthand sidebar.

  1. I think in the "old days," paper was so hard to come by that people wrote letters on paper sacks, etc. I always wonder how weird people would think I am if I wrote letters on the blank side of the flour or sugar bags. I guess most probably already think I'm nuts anyway! Ha!

  2. Have you ever searched the p.o waste baskets? I did a few times this week. There is one that is off in corner, and I kind of act like I'm throwing stuff away while looking for stuff.

I found a packet of thrown-out cards (from some charity group). I've also found some magazines. And some security envelopes which I have insided out.

Is this legal/okay to do? I know about dumpster diving. People put stuff outside their homes on the sidewalk for anyone to take. When someone throws something away, is it fair game?

  3. I'm also wondering about what type of white pen/marker that you use. I've tried to find one that doesn't blot on me, and it's been no use. I wanted one for Christmas cards one year. I think I bought 3 and none of them worked well. Can you recommend something?

  4. Hi Sue...
We live in a rural area and my mail gets delivered by a carrier out on the route, so I don't go to the post office very often. Congrats on your finds! I'm not sure about the legality of looking through the waste, but in these days of identity theft, it might easily be misinterpreted.
As for the white pens I use, I order mine from jetpens.com. They are Signo uni-ball white.
    Hope this helps.

  5. I saw someone's unopened phone bill and someone else's yearly unemployment tax form. Both thrown away... One magazine had the name and address ripped off.

    Thanks for the pen tip.

  6. I must lead a very sheltered, insecure life! LOL! I've worn the label "peculiar" all my life; now I get to meet others like me. I'm finally real.

Thanks to all. A special thanks to you, Patty. Gosh, but I like this place. (Your blog.)
